Measures up to 3 feet deep, they expand & link together. The height in front is over 19" tall. 

1 of the andirons is missing part of the expansion but it's still pretty stable. 

We are not sure if they were made with the ability to expand. The whole dog(s) may have been replaced over time. 

Both of them were reinforced & you can see the bolts & welds from the front if you look closely.  

Not exactly sure how old they are but we're sure they are antique.
