Probably hung from the ceiling. Had a ball of string inside with the string coming out the hole to tie up packages. Looks like it got some white paint on it over the years. There is a little bit missing & a crack or two. We're thinking early 1900s or at least the 1st half of the 1900s.

Measures about 5" wide by 4.5" tall.
